SECRET 7” IS AN ANNUAL EVENT THAT COMBINES MUSIC AND ART FOR A GOOD CAUSE. They take 7 tracks from 7 of the best-known musicians around and press each one 100 times to 7” vinyl. They then invite creatives from around the world to interpret the tracks in their own 7” cover design.
I chose the song 'Grounds for Divorce' by Elbow to illustrate and I was very happy when it was chosen to be used in the show. I listened to the song about 100 times to find the best way I felt the cover could be represented. These are the lyrics which inspired my piece:
"...There's a hole in my neighbourhood,
Down which of late I cannot help but fall.
Mondays is for drinking to the seldom seen kid..."
I loved doing this illustration and I'm glad to say someone bought the cover (phew!). My wife and I travelled to London for the show and it was great to see my work sat next to some really amazing work.
